The International Balint Federation Ascona Prize
Winners are offered subsided travel to read their essays at the biennial International Balint Federation Congress.The last prize was awarded in 2017, and in Sept 2017 the first three placegetters travelled to Oxford, UK, where they read their prizewinning essays to the Congress.
Many NZ and Australian students have entered this competition, and a New Zealand student won the prize in 2013 (presented in Heidelberg, Germany), and an Australian student, Beth Hamilton, from Griffith University, won the 2017 first prize. Other students were highly commended in 2015 (Metz, in France),

We are very proud of the standard of reflective writing by medical students in Australia and New Zealand. Our students submitted the majority of the entries received for the 2017 prize!
